In recent years, there has been growing concern about the use of sex hormones in cosmetics and Protheragen-ING wants to address this topic to ensure that our customers have all the information they need to make informed choices.
We offer a comprehensive sex hormone testing service for a range of cosmetic products to help our customers understand the levels of sex hormones in their cosmetics.
Sex hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone, are naturally occurring compounds that play a vital role in the development and regulation of sexual characteristics and reproductive processes.
Although sex hormones are primarily associated with internal body functions, there are some concerns about their presence in cosmetics. Unreasonable intake of sex hormones can cause endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, irregular menstruation in women, and other conditions.
Our sex hormone testing service is analyzed by qualified professionals in specialized laboratories. The testing process involves the detection and quantification of sex hormones in cosmetic formulations. The results will indicate the presence of sex hormones and the levels detected.
Available test items include but are not limited to, the following.
Category | Name |
Estrogens | Estradiol |
Estrone | |
Estriol | |
Hexestrol | |
Progestin | Progesterone |
Androgens | Testosterone |
Methyltestosterone |
Below are some of the common methods and procedures used by Protheragen-ING for the detection of sex hormones in cosmetics:
Protheragen-ING uses multiple analytical techniques for sex hormone testing.
LC separates sample components based on their interaction with stationary and mobile phases. We use LC in combination with various detectors such as ultraviolet (UV), fluorescence or mass spectrometry to identify and quantify sex hormones.
GC separates volatile compounds based on their partitioning between the stationary phase and the mobile gas phase. We use GC in combination with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for sensitive and selective detection of sex hormones.
MS is used to identify and quantify compounds based on their mass-to-charge ratio. We use MS in combination with chromatographic techniques (LC-MS or GC-MS) to improve the selectivity and sensitivity of the detection of sex hormones.
If you would like to request sex hormone testing for any of our cosmetic products, please contact us. We are here to help and ensure you have the information you need to make confident choices. We will respond within 2-4 working days.
