Description
Pentoxifylline is a non-selective PDE (phosphodiesterase) inhibitor. Inhibits endotoxin-induced synthesis of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF α). PTX inhibits the adhesion of T cells to the b1 and b2 Integrin ligands VCAM-1 and ICAM-1. Also prevents the down-regulation of microsomal cytochrome P450 caused by lipopolysaccharides. This compound is also a PDE (phosphodiesterase) inhibitor that blocks production of TNF α and other cytokines. Displays antinociceptive activity.
