EGF-1

Genus
Human
Source
E.coli
Synonyms
Urogastrone, URG
Description
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a small growth factor containing 53 amino acid residues capable of stimulating the proliferation of both mesenchymal and epithelial cells. EGF and FGF-2 induce the proliferation of neural precursor cells isolated from specific regions of the embryonic and adult brain. Biological activities ascribed to EGF include epithelial development, angiogenesis, inhibition of gastric acid secretion, fibroblast proliferation, and colony formation of epidermal cells in culture.
Molecular Weight
Approximately 6.2 kDa.
AA sequence
NSDSECPLSH DGYCLHDGVC MYIEALDKYA CNCVVGYIGE RCQYRDLKWW ELR
Appearance
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity
> 95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Biological Activity
The ED50 as determined by a cell proliferation assay using murine Balb/c 3T3 cells is less than 1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 1.0 × 106 IU/mg. Fully biologically active when compared to standard.
Endotoxin
Less than 1.0 EU/μg of the protein as determined by LAL method.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤ -20℃. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
Note
100, 500μg, 1mg
