Description
Berberine is an isoqinoline alkaloid shown to have a chemopreventive property against colon tumor formation by inhibiting the enzyme Cox-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) which is abundantly expressed in colon cancer cells. Also inhibits c-Jun (Activator Protein 1), a transcription factor that plays a critical role in inflammation and carcinogenesis.
